I tried my best, and I mean my very very best to limit BFCM shopping. Originally I attempted to set a goal to not buy anything at all…but that failed quite miserably.
Here’s this weeks purchases, why I bought them (the justification is more for me, not you), and what I’m actually keeping.
Dieux Instant Angel Moisturizer
My skin has been FREAKING out the last 2 months, and I have been on the hunt for an updated skincare routine that’s going to leave me with dewy, glowy skin. After a recent trip to Formula Fig, where I updated my cleanser (already seeing improvements), I decided to refresh everything. I tried Rhode recently, and aside from the lip peptide (which I also don’t love… unpopular opinion), I was not a fan. Hundreds of 5-star reviews, videos, and reddit posts about Dieux’s Instant Angel sold me, I’ll report back.
Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 in Silver
Technically purchased over 1 month ago on Stockx, however they cancelled my order, forcing me to re-buy them (nobody is actually forcing you to do anything, Chloe). I’ve been obsessed with silver this season, and these are the comfiest sneakers I own.
Oddli Boxer Pants
Winning by a LANDSLIDE, my most worn shorts of the year were Oddli boxers, in this exact size, and colour. To be completely honest with you, I was manifesting that they would make my favourite shorts into a pair of pants. Nothing feels better than shopping small, and supporting a business that you feel aligned with. Well, maybe seeing money triple in an investment would feel better… I’m not too sure.
FLUFF Lip Oil
An absolute sucker for good packaging. I came about this brand, about 2 months ago on TikTok. It was a video of an Australian girl (I’m sorry I can’t remember who), showing “Places I've taken my Fluff Lip Oil”. Instantly, I was drawn to the glossy metal packaging, that reminds me ever so slightly of my Wolf Circus Ring. I signed up for their waitlist, and bought it as soon as it restocked. My justification- it’s refillable. I’ll have the case forever, and continue refilling it with Aquaphor once the lip oil runs out.
16Arlington Top from Vestiaire Collective
Truthfully, I have 3 (with this purchase, 4) shirts in my closet that aren’t white t-shirts. Aside from sweaters, I feel like I don’t have much to wear if dinners plans ever arise. I’ve been hunting for something like this for a long time; black, timeless silhouette, but edgier than your classic shirt. Vestiaire collective never fails me. The brand is 16Arlington, and I am 99% sure it’s from their Spring 2023 collection.
Cordera “Sweats” From the SSENSE Sale
I have been living in “comfy pants” ever since the weather dropped below 10 degrees C. Cordera always amazes me with their quality, and these were 40% off, so I wanted (notice how I used wanted, instead of had… that’s growth), to try. Haven’t received in the mail yet, so still unsure if they’re a keep.
Banana Republic, Nili Lotan look-a-like.
I have been flip-flopping on the Shon pant for over a year, but can’t justify the price. I found a pair of black corduroy Shon pants on sale, last year for $180 CAD, and didn’t purchase them (this is my Roman Empire). Unable to pull the trigger on a full price pair, after seeing how discounted they can me… I stumbled across this pair from BR which happen to be 1/5th of the price. I purchased both dark brown, and cream in a size 4 (sized up 1 size for length). I am obsessed with the brown, but will be returning the cream when they show up in the mail. I saw them in store, and was hoping for more of a ‘winter white’, opposed to a beige.
Buying Cute Workout Clothes is Motivating
Originally was just going to buy the Align tank, which was heavily discounted (I much prefer the full-length compared to original). Then, I decided to refresh my full workout-wardrobe. The Align V-neck bra, is seriously the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I purchased a set in ‘dark-green’ last month, and needed (yes, I’m calling this one a need), this bra in both black and espresso. However, you can’t buy a bra, without buying a matching bottom. The “math” on how my 1-item order, became a 5-item order. I have no regrets. Wearing the bra here for reference.
Oura Ring, not all that it’s hyped up to be.
First, please ignore my lack-of-manicure. Here’s what less than 24-hours as an Oura Ring owner taught me: SAVE YOUR MONEY. I’m pretty convinced that everyone who has written a great review on this product, is being paid to do so. First, we’ll start with the fact that the “gold” is more of a brass, and the ring was already tarnishing after 4 hours of being on my body. I thought this would be a better option for overall accuracy, as I used to be an apple-watch owner, and never wore it consistently throughout the day. Second, you have to pay $7.99 USD per month to access your health metrics… even though you just paid $700 for the ring. Something doesn’t add up there for me. Lastly, my final cue to return, was when I woke up this morning after having a god-awful sleep. The Oura app read “97% sleep score, OPTIMAL”. I laughed at the inaccuracy of the data, and packaged it back up. If you were on the fence about purchasing one, take this as your sign, not to. For sleep specific tracking, I would recommend an Eight Sleep for accurate results. For overall health tracking, the Apple Watch still has my vote.
