This week I finally learned the balance between fashion, and mountain activities. As I lived the most perfect 24 hours of my life (window shopping, friend *and dog* hang outs, followed by an epic ski day), I realized that I don’t have to compromise one for the other. Adventures and activities in the mountains are such a large part of my everyday life, so I want to begin sharing that on here also, alongside fashion content.
I have been told by many that I have a split personality (i.e., fashion obsessed, but could also camp in the woods for 2 weeks straight), and I am making it my mission to mould those together, and lean heavily into both of the things that make me who I am.
I desperately wanted to check out the new Neighbour location in Gastown, and it exceeded my wildest expectations. The space has wooden and chrome accents (what my dream home will consist of), and the most insane natural light I have ever witnessed. I would move in here tomorrow if I could.
To continue on with my most perfect day ever, I headed to one of my favourite cafes in the area, Birds and the Beets. I’m usually not a fruit juice drinker, however I need an I.V. of the fresh OJ they make here. Additionally everything i’ve ever had off their menu has melted in my mouth, and made my taste buds ecstatic.
I had plans to get a 5th piercing done at Mejuri (I had my 4ths done here and they do a great job if anyone was wondering), but when I showed up for my appointment I was told that they couldn't pierce in the location on my lobe I wanted. I wasn’t going to let this little hiccup ruin my perfect day, so I headed back outside with my friend Jas’s dog, and made the most out of the perfect Vancouver weather we had.
The window shopping this day was nothing but a dream, as I fell in love numerous times with pieces that were thousands of dollars outside the budget (this happens a lot), two stand outs that are not *super* unattainable are this gorgeous Our Legacy bag, and this Navy Western Denim set from Lemaire (jacket and bottoms). My birthday is not for another 6 months, but if anyone wants to buy me a gift, either of these two will do.
To complete the perfect 24 hours that I was speaking to in this video, was an all-time ski day with some friends. Good energy, good weather, good snow, and good snacks are the recipe for success. Here is a frozen smile to show you just how happy I was:
I’m usually in head-to-toe Arc’teryx gear when I ski, but I wanted to switch it up for a day. My usual kit is all black (one jacket has a hint of grey), so this was a step outside my comfort zone. I pulled on my Halfdays Murphy suit, and hit the slopes for the stunning blue-bird day we were having. If you’re ever in Whistler, my one must-eat recommendation is a waffle from the Crystal Hut on Blackcomb.
As if a day of skiing wasn’t enough, I needed to capitalize on the 10 degree weather at the base of the mountain. I strapped on my On cloudmonsters, and went for a quick 5k. Wearing an Adanola 1/4 zip, and matching leggings in graphite grey.
Was not a huge week in the outfit department, as I spent most of it in Goretex. However, two pictures were captured at the end of the week to show that I still do in fact know how to get dressed.
On the left, I’m wearing a vintage mountain hardwear puffer, Uncle Studios cashmere zip, Dehanche belt, Aritzia trousers, and carrying a Kaan bag.
On the right, wearing an Almada Label sweater, Rue Sophie jeans, Khaite belt and carrying a Sonya Lee bag.
Let me know what the highlight of your week was. x
I relate to the outdoor/fashion split personality so much. Excited you’re sharing this part of your life!
This newsletter issue popped up on my substack feed and I immediately recognized where the first mirror selfie was taken hahaha. Love Neighbour and Birds and the Beets. Gastwon gems!
Also happy to finally find a fellow Vancouver substacker!
